With nearly 100 credits and 18 years of industry experience under her belt, Christine Luby's directorial journey commenced during the pandemic with her debut feature for Netflix This Little Love of Mine, filmed on the idyllic coastline of Australia. The romantic comedy rose to the 2nd most-watched film globally on its opening weekend and Luby’s work caught the industry's attention, leading to her to direct the Disney+ film The Curious Case of Dolphin Bay which was nominated for an Australian Directors Guild Award.
In the realm of television, she directed multiple episodes for the acclaimed Netflix Original series Dive Club, a project that garnered a Logie and AACTA Award nominations. Luby also directed the Australian/Canadian treaty co-production Love and Penguins, a Tubi Original.
More recently, Luby’s shot Royal Rendezvous for Peacock, on location in Ireland and Holly Jolly Christmas for MarVista Entertainment. She is currently working on her next film You, Always, (starring Adrian Grenier).
Previously, Christine worked as an Assistant Director on major films like Peter Rabbit, The Wolverine, Aquaman and Elvis and was the 1st AD on numerous feature films and TV series. She also produced Sydney Film Fest favorite, the indie Chocolate Oyster.
Luby’s international perspective, honed through years of living abroad, infuses her work with a rich cultural tapestry that resonates deeply with audiences worldwide. Trained as a modern dancer at Hampshire College and Laban Centre London, Christine brings a unique sense of rhythm and movement to her directorial approach, infusing her projects with an artistic and visceral quality. Her intuitive filmmaking style is balanced by comprehensive technical knowledge, allowing her to collaborate seamlessly with actors and production.
